NAVSO P-5239-26: Navy Staff Office Publication (NAVSO Pub) 5239, "Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Program Guidelines" is issued by the Naval Information Systems Management Center. This guideline consists of a series of modules providing procedural, technical, administrative and/or supplemental guidance for all information systems, whether business or tactical, used in the automatic acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission or reception of data. Each module will focus on a distinct program element, and will establish a standard methodology for planning, implementing and executing the INFOSEC program within the Department of the Navy (DON).

This policy is similar to DOD 5220.22.M. If you process any type of information for the Navy you must adhere to the ruling or face penalties, fines, and possible litigation
